Yamaha recently opened the doors of their UK facility and offices for three days of fun and feasting. We snuck along to avail ourselves of a free lunch and some quality time with their product specialists. First up was the new O1X, Yamaha's much touted mLAN audio interface / digital desk / software remote control. We saw this at the Musik Messe in Frankfurt, where it raised an eyebrow or two, due to it's integration with the computer using Yamaha's mLAN technology. The O1X will be the first major release from Yamaha utilising mLAN and looks like it could be one of the first integrated Audio/Computer systems with comprehensive bi-directional communication - including parameter name/values displayed on the units LCD.
We first filmed Burt Smorenburg's excellent demo - you really have to see the Delay Lama plugin he uses to show-off the O1X's remote control features - then Nick Howes, Yamaha UKs top boffin who's been working on the development of the O1X for a deeper insight into what the machine can do.  Nick Howes gets deeper with the 01X Next up, we got an up-beat demo of the new Motif ES. Launched at this years Summer NAMM the ES has taken much from user input to improve upon the already popular Motif workstation range. Many improvements have been made, both technical and ergonomic. We filmed Bert giving the Motif ES a workout check it out:  Bert's Motif ES demo For more info:
