Steinberg today announced the availability of their new Plex VST virtual instrument. PLEX is the result of co-operation between Steinberg and Wolfgang Palm, the man behind the PPG Wave from the early 80’s and the founder of Waldorf, one of the most pioneering synthesizer manufacturer’s in the World. According to Steinberg:
"PLEX brings you not only a brand new method of Restructuring Synthesis, but also an extremely easy-to-use interface, which has been designed to be intuitive and one that encourages experimentation. The sound itself is as stunning and realistic as the concept is unique!" By using its new audio analysis technology PLEX divides the original sound into four components: lower spectrum, higher spectrum, filter characteristics and amplitude envelope. The information held in these four components are kept separate from each other, which means that the component containing the low spectrum contains no information from the high spectrum, the filter characteristics or amplitude envelope. You can now use these individual components to in any way you wish to create unique and original, yet natural sounds. Features
