BOSTON, MA - Cakewalk, developer of the leading music and sound software for Windows, today announced that its flagship SONAR 2.0 digital multitrack recording system for Windows will support the new Mackie Control™ surface hardware. The Mackie Control is a nine-fader master control surface with nine touch-sensitive Penny and Giles® motorized faders, and is designed for the needs of today's workstation-based musicians and producers.
Registered SONAR 2.0 owners will be able to download a free control surface plug-in for the Mackie Control, allowing them to record, edit and mix entire SONAR 2.0 audio and MIDI projects using Mackie's fully automatable surface.

Control and automate tracks, aux buses and virtual mains
Automate effects in tracks, aux buses and virtual mains
Navigate by selection, markers, loop points, punch point, measure, beat, ticks
Insert markers, loop points, punch points, selection region

Cakewalk will release a Mackie Control surface plug-in for SONAR 2.0 in September, 2002. SONAR 2.0 provides global support for all MIDI-based control surface hardware. SONAR 2.0 includes customized support for control surfaces such as the Radikal Technologies SAC-2.2 and SAC-2K; the CM Labs MotorMix; the Tascam US-428 and Tascam 244; the Roland U8; and StudioMix.
SONAR 2.0 owners can also use a generic control surface plug-in with "learn-mode" to customize SONAR to work with any MIDI hardware, allowing them to create and modify their own control surface presets.
Availability
Cakewalk plans to have the Mackie Control surface plug-in available on their web site for download in September, 2002. Registered SONAR 2.0 owners will be able to download it off the web site at no charge. For more information please visit
