Apogee, manufacturers of top-notch D-to-A (Dosh to 'Ardware ;-) converters amongst others, always seems to pull something cool from their sleeves at showtimes.

At NAMM earlier this year it was the 'Mini-Me', a drop-dead gorgeous portable Mic Pre/Converter with more bells and whistles you can shake a Morris dancer at.

At MESSE, they've trumped it with Native Tools, a combination of Apogee converters and Steinberg's Nuendo system:-

  • 16 channel Apogee 24/96 AD-16 converter
  • 16 channel Apogee 24/96 DA-16 converter
  • Steinberg's Nuendo DAW software for PC or Mac
  • RME 9652 PCI interface card

    Seems a pretty winning combination!

    Apogee Firewire

    Wait, there's more...

They were also showing a Firewire AMBus card, which occupies a slot in their AMBus-based products such as Track2 and AD-8000 series.
It supports all emerging Firewire standards, and through their partnership with Yamaha, also supports the mLan protocol for transmitting high quality digital audio, MIDI, and control data over IEEE1394.
