VEMIA, one of the pioneers of Internet auctions for musicians, is set to relaunch it's service next month. The site has teamed up with spheremusic.com to facilitate an upgrade in its auction technology, and from next month will be offering users the long overdue ability to post photos for each lot, and to leave proxy bids. One thing that will remain unchanged is VEMIA's famed personal touch - registrations and lot descriptions are vetted by VEMIA staff, who also offer help and advice on packing, payment, servicing and transport. Whether the changes will do anything to impact on EBay's seemingly vice-like grip on the secondhand gear market remains doubtful, but VEMIA's reputation for handling the esoteric and just plain weird should see it through.
