Emagic have released the EMI 2|6, "the first truly mobile multichannel audio interface for the Universal Serial Bus (USB)."
It delivers 6 playback and 2 recording channels at professional 24 Bit audio quality.
Fully plug and play compatible the power is supplied via the USB port. Latency-free hardware monitoring guarantees the monitoring of audio input signals with no perceptable delay.
Emagic's special low latency technology allows software instruments such as Emagic's ES1, EVP88 and EXS24, and VST 2.0 compatible instruments, to be played in real-time. Approximately the size of a VHS cassette and extremely lightweight, the EMI 2|6 is the ideal audio interface solution for laptop computers.
The unit boasts six discrete 24 Bit analog outputs, making the EMI 2|6 a useful solution for surround sound multimedia presentation.
The 2 input channels also feature high-quality 24 Bit analog/digital converters. The incorporated headphone amplifier provides quick and mobile monitoring. Coaxial S/PDIF connectors allow digital audio devices, such as external digital effects processors and DAT machines, to be connected directly without any conversion loss. Thanks to new, unique technology developed by Emagic, multichannel audio transfer via USB takes place without data reduction.
Status LEDs indicate bit quantization, digital/analog input processing, external/internal synchronization and sample rate. Inputs and outputs also feature LEDs indicating signal presence.
The EMI 2|6 will be delivered with EASI and ASIO drivers for MacOS 9.0.4 and up, as well as EASI, ASIO, MME and DirectSound-compatible drivers for Windows Millennium.
