A tiny desktop mic preamp with compressor and noisegate manufactured by the same people that make the Joemeek gear.It has switchable phantom power and knobs for input gain, compression ratio, compression release, gate threshold and output gain.

Good Points
The sound is really good for such a small and inexpensive unit, the preamp is closely related to the Joemeek preamps. Both a line output and monitor output are provided so you can feed your hard disk recording system with one and listen via the other, bypassing any latency delay problems. The compressor works well at all the ratios fattening up the sound nicely, and if you really turn it up it automatically switches to a 15:1 limiting mode. The compression threshold is fixed so you have to turn up the input gain for more compression and the gate, although basic, does a good job of shutting down any noise. If you are on a tight budget when looking for a 'channel strip' this is definitely worth considering and it won't take up too much room either.
