A great sample playback system, I use mine almost exclusively for breaks and drum sounds. It integrates well with Logic (mac). ReCycle can export directly to it, which makes cutting up beats a real breeze. It's also got a large sample library (it comes with 2 cdroms) there are a lot of others too. If you get hold of Gallery Software's Interpreter, you can read Akai discs and programs straight to SC instruments.

Good Points Integrates well into a sequencer setup, easy to use. As all the files sit on your computer, file management is easier - you keep all the files for a song in one place. If you use a lot of breaks then this could be the system for you. Bad Points Not really any good for mutating sounds as the filter is not that great. Some functions of the editor could be improved. Was a little pricey, though it has come down (just after I bought mine!) Systems like the Pulsar are gonna come and eat it for breakfast eventually. |
