u can only export one mono wav each time to a cdr disk, then use it as a source for any audio editing(no matter protools, sound forge,whatever...).yes,u need to export 16 times if u have 16 mono tracks on ur song.

A great tool for the musician/composer that doesn't have a lot of room. I agree with all the props given but here are some things a buyer should know. You can't use this thing in the same room as your band (loud band), it causes the disc to skip. The reverbs suck. I haven't heard the y56k card but I assume it's more of the same, unless you tell me otherwise. And remember, if you get that 4 xlr card or the eight quarter inch card you should plan on purchasing a four or eight channel mic pre, it wont work without.

Alittle update now that I have been using the Aw ALOT for awhile now. Still absolutly amazing. The sound quality is awsome as well as the Eq, compression/expansion/limiter/gate, and effects blocks. What I do, petey-g, is record directly onto the Aw, then burn to CD and then load the files from the CD onto my computer (sounds like a long process but it is REALLY very short and inituative.) Then, I add some more effects and eq and what-not then conver to Mp3 for distribution. As for CDs that I destribute localy, they are all burnt directly from the Aw and they sound really great (with of course alot of mastering work just like any DAW.)

Definatly worth the cash. Can't be beat for the price by ANYTHING in this range or quality. Thanx Yamaha.
