The new DiMarzio Ionizer 8-string pickups are likely to be available for purchase in early February, after being unveiled to the public at NAMM in January 2013.

The pickups were designed with the help of Animals as Leaders guitarist, Tosin Abasi, who was after a pair of lower output pickups to respond to the dynamics and intricacies of his playing.

It is also possible that 6-string and 7-string versions of the Ionizers will be released to the public, although this has not been confirmed by DiMarzio.
