25-year-old death metal guitarist, Tony Lorenzo, has been paralysed following an armed robbery near his home.
Lorenzo's band, Sons of Azrael, are signed to Metal Blade Records and have released two albums since 2004. The guitarist was shot during an armed robbery in his home town of Buffalo, and now has a bullet lodged in his spine.
He is currently paralysed from the waist down, and doctors cannot comment on a full recovery until the swelling has gone down and they can make an attempt to remove the bullet.
The guitarist told of the story via WIVB.com:
“The kid asked me, ‘Give me what you got.’ And before I could even get my wallet out, he just shot me.
“I’m not a gang-banger. I’m not someone who owes anyone money. I don’t start beefs. I’m just a normal guy, you know? I work at Pano’s Restaurant.”
Buffalo mayor, Byron Brown, has vowed that no expense will be spared in catching the person responsible.
