Tony Iommi: Sabbath Have Rehearsed And Played Old Stuff

Reunion looks ever more likely   24-Oct-11

Tony Iommi: Sabbath Have Rehearsed And Played Old Stuff

On August 17th of this year, we reported that Black Sabbath had confirmed they were to reunite, only to then find that Tony Iommi had quahsed the rumours as being false.

Apparently, Tony's trust had been abused by a journalist at the Birmingham Mail, and there was no official statement by Iommi to suggest that a reunion was on the cards.

We have still had no offical line from Black Sabbath, but Tony Iommi has again spoken about the band, saying that they have been in the rehearsal studio:

"We’ve had a rehearsal and played some of the old stuff and to be together again was great," said Iommi. "We’re all on good terms and we’re at a stage where we can play together again. It would be good if we could and I suppose it’s the closest it’s been to be able to do that. It could happen!”

The Sabbath guitarist has said that when he was originally quoted as confirming the gig, he was merely shooting the breeze:

“At the time I was supporting the Home of Metal exhibition and was merely speculating, shooting the breeze, on something all of us get asked constantly, 'Are you getting back together?”

That's certainly the closest we've had to confirmation so far, and is certainly great news for expectant Sabbath fans out there!
