Bright Sparks Film Adds Free Tom Oberheim Chapter

US A loving look at the life and work of a synth legend      17/02/22

You probably are already aware of the excellent  Bright Sparks Documentary  - a labour of love documentary from the folks over at GForce Software  that released in conjunction with  I Monster back in 2015. In two parts: A Side covered the groundbreaking and pioneering work of Robert Moog, Don Buchla Alan R Perlman and Harry Chamberlin.

B Side covers The Bradley Brothers (Mellotronics), Peter Zinovieff (EMS) Adrian Wagner (EDP) and Ken Freeman (Freeman String Symphonizer)

Today they released a new episode/chapter devoted to the work of Tom Oberhiem.

TOM IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC HISTORY, AND GIVEN THE INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF I MONSTER'S BRIGHT SPEAKS ALBUM FEATURES A BONUS TRACK DEDICATED TO HIM, HIS LACK OF INCLUSION IN THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY ALWAYS FELT LIKE A MAJOR OMISSION. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED BRIGHT SPARKS TO BE AN EVER-EVOLVING PROJECT, SO I'M THRILLED TO DOCUMENT HIS FASCINATING STORY WITH A DEDICATED CHAPTER.

Dave Spiers, Bright Sparks producer and co-founder of GForce Software Ltd.

Whats more, its free to view on Youtube and a jolly good watch. There's some interesting details about the whole Oberheim trademark wrangles.
