Based in the UK? Looking for a new portable audio recorder? Well it could be your lucky day. Roland UK have just launched a competition based around the new OS v 2.0 for their flagship synthesizer the V-Synth GT. The OS has some incredible new features for sample manipulation and what sounds like some pretty cool vari-phrase and formant mungeing. They say that is has "A recharged cutting-edge sound set, dozens of newly enhanced effects, an import files feature and an enhanced user interface, are just some of the new features ideal for sound design and live performance." Roland have asked their Roland Planet Staff (these are like mini Roland centres within music stores in the UK), to take a single vocal sample and create a patch on the V-Synth using the new 2.0 features. Your job, should you wish to take it is to vote on which of these is the best. Simple. If your entry gets picked out of the virtual hat - you could win a Boss micro BR recorder – which is not only a recorder, but a drum machine, effects unit, fourtrack with timestretch and other useful features in a pocket-sized package. Even if you aren't in the UK, you can still check out the sounds of the V-Synth GT, and if you own one – then download the version 2.0 software free! Go to it.
