I love the filters on this thing.....glad I waited and did'nt get the EX7. The knobs and color remind me of the Z1. Kinda wish it a had small phrase sequencer built-in and a floppy drive also...otherwise this sounds phat for a lotta of styles but mainly the beautiful trance stuff stands out. Should'nt be more than $1200, tho....give it a 4 also.

I have got the problem sorted now.I called Yamaha UK for help(who I must say were excellent and called me back within 2 minutes). They told me to set the Course Tuning to -12 in the Phrase Clip Edit section. Everything is ok now. I must say the CS6x is excellent and goes alongside my Nova brilliantly for trance and hard house type stuff.

I am having trouble using the Phrase Clip feature on the CS6x and don`t know wether I am doing something wrong or have found a serious bug. I have imported a wav file onto the CS6x from my PC using card filer.The wav file is a 140bpm drum loop. I have assigned it as a clip to key C1.When I play key C1 the loop plays back at the wrong tempo when the pitch control knob is in the centre.It plays back about 50% faster,if I move the pitch control knob fully left the loop plays back at correct speed and if I move the knob fully right it plays back about 100% faster. I have also assigned the clip to a performance as well to sequence using Cakewalk Pro 9. When I press play in Cakewalk the loop plays but again at the wrong tempo.I need to move the pitch control knob fully left again to get it at the right speed.This happens each time I press play in Cakewalk, even when the pitch knob is full left,I have to move it to the centre and then back again eack time after pressing play. I have tried syncing the CS6x to midi clock etc but it still does this. Surely this is not how this feature is meant to work? The loop should surely play back at the correct 140 bpm tempo when the pitch control is in the centre position and speed up or slow down if I move the knob from left to right. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as this is one of the features why I bought the CS6x.

well.. theres a couple of things i miss:

1)only playback sequencer is ok, except it should also allow phrase sequences to be played across keyboard.

2)it could have playback sampler! eg do it on computer, download on smartmedia and here you go..

3)more effect blocks, 1 per performace is not enoygh

4)multiple arpeggiators!!! it's so cool!

NB! sounds are amazing! i find myself constantly just sitting and listnening to some filtered "generation" or demo song "blood". actually, you can get pretty freak drumbeats with this toy-phrase-clip option. this pitch change is bullshit, tempo changes also!!

as a computer programmer, i find this thing a little limited in terms of power of programming ;) hope soft updates will do good. still waiting for an1x board..

ok, i still trying to figure out, do i need triton or cs6x will do fine for me :)

This synth looks superb. I used to have a cs1x, but the specs on this machine seem to break away from the other cs-x's. It has more outs, more knobs and more overall greatness, and perhaps it will allow me to sell my An1x!
