The XV-2020 is great for live performance: the device is only 9,5" wide, has great sounding patches that you can customize through the editor at home, and the expansion boards sound even better. You better NOT use the XV-2020 as a multitimbral (GM) soundmodule because then the device uses all of the too familiar Roland-like sounds, and non-pro's start to complain that the XV-5080 does a better job (but is higher priced..) In my perspective the device is worth the money.

Doesn't to my ears sound as good as my old XP-50, GM sounds good but slightly different to the norm. Output is very low via line or phono's.

I agree with Simon from the UK. The Roland XV 2020 is badly let down by the Instruction Manual which is appalling and totally incomprehensible. The XV Editor software is also let down by the online manual which is likewise...useless. I could not even configure the Midi section as the required fields were not offered in the dialog box. I can proceed no further and have contacted Roland by e mail for support (no reply on help tel no) A great shame as the some of the sounds are of high quality and certainly of use for my recording studio.

The 2020 is a very good module. I should know cause im only 17. At first i thought it would suck. The grand is not that. but it has some other good sounds. i have the expansion board srx02 and it really stands out. the 2020 is a very good module to help you in your performances.
