I've had my xp for 4 yrs now its realy a great machine great sounds and realy great feelingg when you play. Lately found that my volume glider is making a craking sound and caused my sound to be lou and then a screaming sound till it stops by it self. On a scale of 1 to 10 ill give the xp an 8 its just difficult to layer and creat patches and aalsoo sequencing

For Dominic: Your problem with the shifting of pitch on your XP80 is, in all likelihood, a bender bar problem. I had the identical (embarrassing) problem with a Roland D20. Had it in to the shop numerous times. Finally, the fifth time, they figured it out. Replaced the bender bar and no more shifting. I now have an XP 80 and love it. Old, but great sounds and I used the floppy drive all the time for back up.

In addition to the previous two reviews I've written here, I like to comment on the following: reviewers Dominic and Patrick J report random pitch bend problems. Although my XP doesn't do that, the pitchbend/mod lever itself has become unreliable and unpredictable, it is impossible to do controlled bends or mods. My experience with Roland Central Europe are not very encouraging, so I'll just leave it as I'm playing the Fantom X7 now anyway.
