had one on loan 28 years ago and purchased a non working (but super condition) one in Feb 2007. You need to know a little bit about electronics to fix these synths and we found three faults that when fixed restored it to full working order - some of the chips really can die of old age but they should all be in sockets. All the circuits are on the web and an Australian Company (Elby Designs) are bringing out a rack version in 2007. you can get totally mad sounds out of this synth plugged into modern digital FX and as another poster said watch your speakers when you turn up the resonance control. Tim Orr (the designer from EMS)was a genius.

After borrowing one of these in the 70's we picked up a non working one in Feb 2007 in super physical condition. You need to know your electronics to fix these things and we found two faults, one resistor in the VCO and chips in the ADSR replaced for a few £. They keyboard contacts can be a pig to clean as well...Plug into a digital FX pedal and youll have new sound every minute..fantastic

This thing can create some really fantastic sounds. Somewere between a PRO-1 and a Moog. And still it has a unique sound color to it! Yes, thats how good it is! I will never part from mine, ever. There are only 1000 of these beutys ever made. God only knows how many got lost during the last decades. If you can, BUY!!!

What a BEAST! Watch your speakers cos this baby has balls.Got one recently on ebay, one of my best buys. I've got lots of analogue gear and this has a dirtier quality than the Rolands, Sequential and oberheim stuff. The CV/Gate is a bit ackward needs alot of power for the CV. The solution is to play it into your audio recorder. This is better than the Rolands for spaced out sounds but the Pro 1 is better all round in comparison. The build quality was fine, for a synth 25yrs old it only had one crackling pot. It is a bit noisy so if I were you I'd gate it. I've heard the schematics are available free on the web, I'd even consider buying a second if cheap enough to fuck about with. This isn't as clean as the Roland sound but Tim Orr knew what he was doing when he created this and considering it's only got one oscillator it gives a gut wrenching sound.

Ive had mine modded by www.oakleysound.co.uk. Overdrive OSC and overdriven filter make this synth very, very dirty. Real punchy env's, but watch the build quality. Some are really bad, but I got a really good one.
