LP gets the job done. The os updates suck and Moog has taken the LP to different levels from the tribute that I purchased. I still love it though. Good thick sounds of a MONO synth. If you have the $ to toss get it. If not, get a microkorg.

...must agree with most posters here that the LP is simply a wonderfully musical instrument... this IS the sound that I have been chasing around for 20 years!... I saw it in a catalog originally and didn't necessarily think much of it... however, trying it out in person makes all the difference... I would say it helps to have a reason to buy this one... those looking for gee-whiz useless sounds that abound on so many workstations need not look here...I would like to audition the Voyager at some point to compare the two... I sold a Mono/Poly and a Moog Rogue to get this one... it's what I wanted the Rogue to be all along...

This LP stage synth is real true synth satisfaction...Analog sound on the fly, progamming ease, and a noise source. I have had mine for a month now and everytime I play it I feel like I'm in heaven. This is one bad assed synth! Now we can we finally put those idiots who paid too much for crap no one will fix to bed.........

I bought the LP because I wanted a real performance synth with the real Moog sound...the Mini being old and very limited, and the Voyager just being too big inside and out to suit my needs. It was a fantastic addition to my kit : FR-777, Sherman Filterbank2, Supernova2 KB, Prophecy, ms2000 etc. Considered getting a Source or Prodigy but really was intrigued by this one once the stigma of the unappealing name wore off. Glad I did! This little sucker is the mutt's nuts. No exaggeration - This synth makes the creamiest leads and most bowel-shaking, bootylicious bass around. It snarls, blatts, sings, whirrs, snorts, zaps, bleeps, whizzes, fries, sizzles and lots more. It's got CHARM in bucketloads...this bugger is FUN to play! It has the most responsive controls of any synthesizer I've ever played. No stepping/aliasing here. The keyboard is solid and very fast to play on. It's the only synth I've ever had that is as natural to play as a nice guitar, really. It's unique feature is FILTER OVERLOAD - No other Moog has it, so the LP can go places the Voyager cannot...reams of liquid bass shredding out the EG amount and goosing the resonance just right... is very delicious!! this is the ULTIMATEFUNKMACHINE

I was fortunate enough to get one of about 4 units that came to Toronto. It really sounds great, feels good, and is a snap to use. I was thinking of getting the Dave Smith Evolver, which I also liked a lot. The LP has far fewer features, and its own sound, but I figured I can get the Evolver anytime - the LP has a collectable quality to it, so I jumped on it.

It's definitely got that Moog sound, like the best bits of a Mini, Micro, Prodigy, and a Source all in one, except for the noise source. To me, this synth eliminates the need to search about for an aging Mini, and gets you through most of the things you'd need to do without spending 3 grand on a Voyager. I love its vibe, sound, and simplicity.

Apparently, they're releasing the OS from the upcoming Stage Edition, and that's going to incluce a noise source, and some great MIDI features like CC pot mapping, making the LP a much better MIDI controller on stage or in the studio. I can't wait for that new OS.... sounds amazing. A great synth that's easy to use, and can generate a ton of killer and unique sounds.
