Paul Geffen writes:
The Triadex Muse was designed by Edward Fredkin and Marvin Minsky at M.I.T. It was the first digital device for making music.

The Muse could generate very long sequences of notes. It was entirely deterministic - no random numbers used - and programmable.

Pictures of the Muse may be found at various sites on the Web.
