The X50 synthesizer is a testament to their designers, utilizing their existing synthesis technology, they’ve come up with an attractive looking 61-key synth with 64 MB of PCM ROM, 512 programs and 384 combinations to store 8 part mulit-timbral setups. Two master effects, a stereo 3-band master EQ and one stereo insert effect are there for sweetening the sound with 89 different effect types. Effects parameters can be modulated in real time, with many effects that can sync to MIDI clock. The X50 offers dual polyphonic arpeggiators that feature with one-touch functionality. In addition to five basic preset arpeggio patterns, the X50 also provides 251 patterns covering everything from simple riffs to complex polyphonic phrases and drum grooves. The X50 also offers a variety of real-time controllers - two switches, four knobs, plus pitch bend and mod wheels (all assignable). Sounds are organized into 16 categories, with users selecting Programs and Combis via dedicated Category keys.. Korg’s proprietary ClickPoint cursor system and a backlit LCD display further enhance navigation functions. For use with the ubiquitous computer, there’s a USB port which doubles up to offer MIDI control of up to 16-part multi-timbral sources - that's right, you get 8 more channels of sounds. Editing software is included in both as stand alone and plug-in format (VST, AU and RTAS formats are supported), so you can call up the X50 rom within the your host sequencer application The Korg X50 is available April 2006 with a U.S. MSRP of around $749
