AKG have a *huge* legacy in the microphone world - their classic C12 is something of a touchstone in mic design, and many of the tried & tested studio 'go-to' mics bear the AKG logo.

But they obviously haven't been resting on their laurels, and have branched into new areas - this year they were showing a range of options for conference and exhibition/museum use - Walter Rührig gave us the guided tour.

First up was a wireless gooseneck mic, and it's sibling, a wireless tabletop pod into which separate tabletop mics can be connected. These used body-pack type transmitters from a range of different AKG wireless mics which were housed in the body of the 'pod' - clever ;-]

Next was a new infrared tour-guide audio system - the wide-area transmitter can send up to 10 channels to each receiver, which allows for multi-language options.

It's designed for tour guide museum/exhibit use, and conferences needing multi-language translations.... but I'm thinking you could get pretty creative with such a multi-channel streaming system in an art or performance situation too... hmmmnnn, strokes chin.

Last up was the 4-ch TETRAD licence-free GHz-band system; handheld or body-pack transmitter options with a rack-mount base station, aimed for more 'consumer' applications.
