If you're into synths on anything more than a casual basis, chances are you've heard of Tatsuya "Tats" Takahashi. His involvement with the rise of the affordable analog cannot be underestimated. During his time at Korg, he has been instrumental in the new wave of affordable mass produced analog synthesizers that we've come to expect.

Starting with the Monotron range - the affordable, toy like hand held synth, we then got the Monotribe, the MS20 and Odyssey revivals, the equally groundbreaking four voice Minilogue and most recently the Monilogue. He has had a hand in them all. And we've reviewed them all.

We caught up with him at NAMM in January and spoke to him about how he got started. Since then Tats has announced that he is leaving Korg full time and heading off to Germany to pursue his career. He will be remaining with Korg in and advisory capability. Where ever he goes, we expect great things will follow.
