Spitfire Audio has announced availability of PP027 - NORTH 7 VINTAGE KEYS, which they say creates a definitive, deep sampled, and magically musical rendering of four meticulously-maintained Sixties- and Seventies-vintage keyboard classics played by session player Sean Hargreaves for NI KONTAKT. PP027 - NORTH 7 VINTAGE KEYS is the latest in Spitfire Audio's lengthening line of popular Producer Portfolio products, providing producers, songwriters, and composers with raw, untreated instruments in a neutral space to make their own. Only a matter of time, surely, before the company collectively turned its creative hand to the well-trodden recorded route of vintage electric pianos and other curiosities after so much experimentation, research, and soul searching in its ongoing mission to produce the finest virtual instruments from the finest musical samples in the world. Doing just that, in a knowing nod to its creators' North London postcode shared with first-time collaborative production partner North Seven Studios built by music editor, producer, and engineer extraordinaire Simon Changer from the finest fragments of the decimated London large-scale recording studio scene, PP027 - NORTH 7 VINTAGE KEYS sees Spitfire Audio placing four meticulously maintained Sixties- and Seventies-vintage keyboard classics -- namely, a Fender Rhodes 73 Mk 1, as played to perfection by the likes of Chick Corea and Joe Zawinal, as well as sensually showing up on Vangelis' virtuosic synth-centric score for Ridley Scott's sci-fi neo-noir Bladerunner; Fender Rhodes piano bass, the world's first dedicated keyboard bass instrument as made uniquely famous by Ray Mazarek of The (bass guitar-less) Doors; Hohner Clavinet, famed for driving Stevie Wonder's wonderful 'Superstition'; and Wurlitzer EP200A (a.k.a. 'The Wurly'), musically ingrained in popular music culture thanks to artists as diverse as Marvin Gaye, Supertramp, and The Beatles -- in front of fellow North Seven Studios-based producer and session supremo Sean Hargreaves for faithful capture courtesy of the studio's sumptuous signal path.
