We had a visit from Alec Storey, AKA Second Storey/ Al Tourettes - master of what I'd call ambient electro. He's also known for his a DJ work (vinyl being his preferred medium) while using the latest in-the-box technology and techniques to produce his own tunes. In 2010 he was asked to compose music for a club scene in Black Swan - the psycho ballet movie starring Natalie Portman.
Being a big fan of in-the-box, he rocked up with nothing more than a laptop and Ableton Push to gives us a taste of a track he's working on for his forthcoming album as Second Storey for Houndstooth (label of the month on Resident Advisor) - top London club Fabric's own label. If you can't wait till then, take a listen to Margosa Heights, an EP he released this Summer.
Very much working within Ableton Live, he uses some interesting techniques and approaches to music creation using the combination of Ableton Live and Push hardware.
