SONiVOX has released Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0, the latest version of their flagship virtual piano instrument. New features in Version 2.0 include an integrated patch browser, enhanced EQ and effects, plus current 64-bit VST and AU support.

Jason Jordan, Head of Soundware at SONiVOX, told us, "Eighty Eight has always been popular--everyone loves a great piano. With the improvement in the EQ and effects, the new interface, and the additional 64-bit VST and AU support, we see Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 appealing to more and more players, performers, and studios." Here's more of what SoniVox has to say...

Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 features an exceptional recreation of the Steinway 9-foot CD 327 grand piano. Meticulously sampled and expertly voiced, Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 provides every composer, pianist, and musician the opportunity to infuse their compositions, recordings, and performances with this truly world-class grand piano. The SONiVOX recording philosophy relies on a simple signal chain, the finest A/D converters, and premium microphone preamps. Faithful to the original piano, Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 captures each note of this cherished instrument at 16 velocity levels for exceptional dynamic accuracy.

Unlike other virtual piano instruments, Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 also includes dozens of ensemble presets that provide the live performer with a powerful arsenal of sounds-- without the hassle of running additional virtual instruments. Ensemble layers offer a string, synth or vocal pad to achieve those lush classic piano & string sounds. Ensemble splits add a bass, and/or a solo instrument such as flute, that plays above or below the piano. The new integrated Patch Browser stores and sorts patches by Class, Genre, and Character attributes, making it easy to find the appropriate sound quickly on stage, or when the studio clock is ticking.

Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 also provides each player with plenty of opportunity to customize their sound and performance. The four-band EQ allows the timbre of each sound to be easily refined. An improved limiter offers enhanced dynamic control. Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 also adds a new robust reverb section with high-frequency damping and room size parameters to add just the right amount of ambience. The piano can be instantly transposed into any key, ideal for the piano accompanist or session player.

In addition to RTAS compatibility, SONiVOX Eighty Eight Ensemble 2.0 now supports 32- or 64-bit AU and VST formats.
