I did drop by the Olympus stand at MESSE this year, just to take a look at the new LS-100. It  sure is a nicely built unit, with a beautiful colour display and a multitrack facility - so you can overdub and record and build up a project.

Indeed, the people on the panel at Musik Messe this year who decide such things gave it the Best Field Recorder gong.

With combi xlr/jack input, plus a 3.5mm mic input to give you up to four inputs - although contrary to what you might expect, it only allows two channels to be recorded at a time. But does allow for overdubbing - hence the multi-track title I guess. However, the recorded signal appears to be of a higher quality than say the the Zoom H4N for example - which still holds the industry standard position when it comes to DSLR video field recording - indeed we use them for our own video rigs at show time.

I did find a pretty good A/B test from GeneralControl on youtube which should give you more information on the other aspects of the LS-100.
