Let's get heavy... heavy as hell   15-Mar-13

We are reviewing a Boss pedal every day for a month in March, and today, on day 15, it's the turn of the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone Distortion, a full-on hi-gain pedal packed with a punch.

We're looking at 30 pedals this month, and then on the final day of March, we'll be doing a round up of our favourites. The idea being that you can quickly watch our bitesize reviews and make a quick decision on whether you like what you hear for each of Boss' compact pedals.

The Boss MT-2 Metal Zone is a pedal with split-pot EQ controls, allowing for selecting a mid-range frequency and then either cutting or boosting it.

Rich's verdict - "This pedal is heavy as hell. I've heard people complain in the past that they can't get the sound they want from it. If you do just a small amount of research on heavy metal guitar EQ, then it's easy to get a great metal sound out of it, and you can go from thrash, to prog to death metal just by playing around with the mid-range frequencies. I'm not a metal player, by any stretch of the imagination, but I still enjoy playing with this pedal. It offers an awesome and unnatural amount of gain, and it does force you to play metal riffs! It's flexible, it's heavy, and it sounds authentic."

RRP - £95
