As audio converter manufacturer Prism Sound celebrates its 25th anniversary, AES Convention 2012 visitors are promised not one but two totally new recording products from the company – products so sensational and innovative, says Prism Sound, that they can hardly bear to keep them under wraps until the show. But wrapped they must stay – for now. If you want to know more you will have to visit the company's booth (722) during the show in San Francisco later this month or keep checking in at Sonic State for the news from the show.
However, to mark this anniversary Prism Sound has announced the launch of a limited edition series of Orpheus, the company's FireWire multi-track audio interface for personal recording and sound production.
Destined, says Prism Sound, to become collectors' items, only 25 of these limited edition units will be offered for sale and each one will numbered. Prism Sound tells us that every Orpheus in the series features a stunning black chassis and blue LED panel, and proudly carries the signature of its creator, Prism Sound's Technical Director Ian Dennis. The units also come complete with the normally optional Thunderbolt adapter.
Graham Boswell, Prism Sound's Sales and Marketing Director, told Sonic State, ""We anticipate huge demand for the limited edition Orpheus as they are very special and will be available on a first come, first served basis. To make them even more unique, we promise that Ian Dennis will personally fine tune and polish every one!"
Aimed at professional musicians, songwriters, engineers and producers as well as recording studios, post production facilities and scoring stages, Prism Sound says that Orpheus is ideal for a wide range of tasks including music and sound recording, multi-tracking, overdubbing, stem-based mastering, analogue summing and critical listening applications.
The Company tells us that Orpheus provides Prism Sound's renowned performance, sound quality and state-of-the-art clock technology in a dedicated FireWire unit compatible with both Windows (XP, Vista (32 and 64bit) & Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), ASIO & WDM) as well as MAC OS X 10.4.11 and later (Intel & PPC). Once configured with a computer, Orpheus can also operate stand-alone using its AES S/PDIF or ADAT I/O.
