The Guitar World 'Bestest Ever Best Guitarist in the Whole Wide World Ever' poll (we may have elaborated on the name) is one of those polls that you just don't want to vote in.

This week Brian May was pitted against Jimmy Page, and by jove there's no way you can compare the two. But then you realise that the winner of this poll will actually be the person who is 'voted' the best out of the two by readers and will go into the next round, and you want to leap to the defence of your favourite guitarist.

If you see one of your favourite guitarists in these polls, it's almost impossible not to vote. We all get defensive of our heroes, and the poll on the Guitar World website this week just managed to cause an in-office debate between two of the Amped crew.

Rob is mad keen on Jimmy Page. Rich owned his first Queen album at the age of four. As is the way with Rob and Rich, they had a fight, trashed the office, and called each other all the name's under the sun. They were then separated by officers of the law and made to provide written justification of why they each think their particular hero is best.

Only the one who gives best written justification will be freed, the other will live a live of enforced servitude.
