Kong Audio have just officially released ChineeGuZheng Classic as freeware as it has now been superseded by ChineeGuZheng II. In the same vein of the Mini DiZi and Mini ErHu, it is the third freeware instrument released by Kong Audio.
GuZheng, as one of the most representative Chinese instruments, first appeared around the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC), then became extremely popular during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD) and has spread to all neighboring areas ever since. GuZheng was originally a rather simple instrument with only five strings. After all the years of evolution, today's GuZheng has twenty-one strings and is still widely used in all kinds of Chinese music.
Kong Audio tell us that, even though ChineeGuZheng Classic is much less expressive and less detailed than ChineeGuZheng II, ChineeGuZheng Classic has its own place. They say that, other than the different sound character, one unique feature that sets ChineeGuZheng Classic apart from other GuZheng libraries is that it was performed using GuQin's techniques, and that this subtle yet distinctive difference makes ChineeGuZheng Classic one good collector's item.
