It has been the source of much speculation for years, and finally, the announcement has been made that an actor has been chosen to play Jeff Buckley in a biopic of his life.
Reeve Carney, who is currently starring as Peter Parker in the Broadway musical – Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, will star as the singer-songwriter in a the film, which is being produced by Jeff Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert.
A number of other actors have been considered for the role, and at one time it was rumoured that Robert Pattinson had been chosen for the role. James Franco had also been mentioned in the running, not least of all because of his incredible resemblance to Buckley.
Carney himself is a singer, and certainly fits into the role aesthetically:
“We are over the moon that Reeve has agreed to take on this challenging role. He’s been getting ready for this all his life. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he looks so much like Jeff.” Said Mary Guibert.
Filming will commence in 2012.
