Since early music videos such as Bliss, Muse have always made the space-rock influences pretty clear in their music and their aesthetic. Matt Bellamy has taken this a step further by making clear his wish to record in space.

The Devonshire frontman has been using the press to try and hint to Richard Branson that Muse would quite like a free-ride on a Virgin Galactic flight.

"We're trying to blag a free trip on it,” he told ContactMusic. “I'm going to try to convince Richard Branson to let us make a music video or record a song up there. I think that would be cool. Would I be scared? I think I'll be all right."

We can only assume that with far less gravitational pull in space, Bellamy is hoping that his huge ego will not be such a weighty burden on his skeletal structure.

This isn't the first time that Muse have publicly asked Richard Branson for a free trip in to space, at this year's Ivor Novello awards, the band hinted that they had their foot in the door after providing their music for a Virgin Atlantic advert.
