We always enjoy our visits to the guys who make the modular and boutique synthesizer modules. Although I thought the drum hall was the most tiring place to hang out - one hour in the company of these guys and you are fried. Thats because the variety and complexity of the sound eminating from the booth is really quite terrifying. The predominant format of all of these modules appears to be Eurorack - which means there is some kind of standardisation to all of this stuff, so go ahead and order yourself a case....

  • MakeNoise Music - brought us the PhonoGene granular looper-  a crazy sampling slicer and re-ordering Eurorack module, Timbre Mixer and thew ModuMixer.
  • SnazzyFX - were showing the Dreamboat Dual Chaotic Oscillator, again in Eurorack format - its a complex modulation module with an especially beautiful Oscilloscope readoutMore Information
  • SynthWerks - these guys are making some interesting touch and pressure modules, the FSR-4 being a 4 pad Eurorack module with control output, threshold and scale controls

    More Information

Synthesis Technology - Robert Rich shows the Morphing Teranium and Cloud Generator, while Paul Schrieber shows us the E580 Resampling Mini Delay
