Apple has announced that it will broadcast its September 1 music event online.

The company is expected to rev its line of music players and iTunes at the event. Other predictions for the event include an Apple TV update, streaming music, an update to the iPad, updated music apps and even a tool for building multimedia content for iPhones, iPod touch & iPads.

Ironically, while Apple says that it's using live streaming technology which is based on open standards, you'll need to be an Apple convert to be able to view the broadcast live.

Viewing requires either:

  • a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard;
  • an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher; or
  • an iPad.

The live broadcast will begin at 10:00 a.m. US PDT on September 1, 2010 at www.apple.com.
