Axl Rose has spoke publicly about the problems which caused their Reading Festival set to be cut short. The band came on stage an hour late and only performed a short set. Festival organisers pulled the plug after a Reading Council imposed curfew had passed.
In a message on Twitlonger.com, Rose wrote, "Don't know what it is with us or these last two shows. Takes the fun out it for everyone — fans, band and crew alike, but whatever.
"So you know, we allegedly had a deal in place pre-show with the city at least at Leeds to do a bit longer performance that was either miscommunication, someone wasn't informed, changed their mind, didn't care or was a con. Regardless, the nonsense just seems so unnecessary but without real management or industry presence is unfortunately beyond our control. We hope the fans feel they got at least what they could from us under the circumstances as for us all things considered that's the main thing. The rest is filler.
"Anyway, enough rambling. Peace, thanks for understanding and what we did manage to get done out there was a blast! The crowds and fans were amazing!! And in our opinion (not that apparently it means much) you deserved better!! Thanks again!!"
In this Youtube video, guitar enthusiasts can see lead-guitarist, Bumblefoot, playing his '59 Re-issue Les Paul on hard-rock anthem, Welcome To The Jungle.
Californian skate-punk band, Blink-182, have now added to the media circus by poking fun at Guns N' Roses during their own Reading set. Bass guitarist, Mark Hoppus said, "I'm sorry you guys missed out on Guns N' Roses on Friday night."
Tom Delonge, guitarist, then jokingly attempted to play the riff to Sweet Child O' Mine but failed, after which he commented "I haven't practised it! Axl Rose is naked with my dad."
Ex Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash, has recently been interviewed at the Sunset Strip Music Festival. The full interview can be viewed here.
