SE Electronics are one of those mic manufacturers who've been around the longest in the new wave of low cost, high quality mics. Their 2200 range has been extremely popular, bringing a large diaphragm sound generally associated with a high cost, to a more affordable point. Sure, there are quite a lot of low cost large format mics out there, but the customers have been won over to SE Electronics due to their desirable sound. Words like "warm and polished" are used when describing the 2200A sound (Paul White SoundOnSound June 06) . The 2200T features an on-board tube and is still based on the 2200A, with an EC8300A tube on board, external power supply and a large mic cradle, this will still only be priced at $495. One to look out for in the next few weeks.
