As expected, at the Apple Event today in San Francisco, the company have announced that they have updated the iPod range. The rumours of a touchscreen iPod and a bigger nano were well-founded as these have appeared in a revamp of the whole range.
From the smallest up…
  • The iPod shuffle is available in a new range of colours including red at $79
  • The new nano is wider than the old one with a bigger display for watching video. There are two versions – a 4GB model in Silver a at $149, and an 8GB in a range of colours at $199.
  • The iPod has now become the iPod classic and is available in 80GB and 160GB versions for $249 and $349 respectively.
  • Completely new is the iPod Touch with touch screen and WiFi. There are 8GB and 16GB versions for $299 and $399. Apple have also launched the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store and an alliance to give free wi-fi access to the store in Starbucks.
We were hoping for some news on Logic but the event was dedicated wholly to iPod news...oh well... Pricing and Availability:
