UK-based amplifier manufacturer MC2 Audio Ltd. has expanded its lightweight (switchmode) E Series with the E4-75 power amplifier. MC2 Audio tell us that this latest addition of the E4-75 power amplifier to the highly successful E Series further underscores their ongoing commitment to providing high quality, high performance solutions to the fixed installation and touring sound markets.
The E4-75 comes after 18 months of development — working closely with distributors and users alike — and is designed for use in a wide variety of applications, including touring monitor racks. The E4-75 is a 4-channel amplifier capable of producing 750W RMS per channel into 4 or 8 ohms; it has automatic impedance sensing and changes the power accordingly.
MC2 had been receiving requests for such a unit since the E-Series came onto the market in 2003. Much of the R&D has been spent addressing the use of onstage monitoring. Inputs are via four XLR sockets, which can be linked to the next channel via a rear panel switch providing greater flexibility to supply more speakers with the same input signal. Each channel has a separate Speakon output socket provided but channels C and D are also routed through the second set of pins on channels A and B Speakon outputs respectively. This gives the user the potential of running two separate bi-amped wedges from one amplifier, which could cut the number of monitor racks needed by 50%. The E4-75 has five-segment LED metering for each channel and an indicator to signal 4 or 8 ohm load. The E4-75 will also fit FOH applications running small-distributed systems or mid/hi sections of larger scale systems.
The E4-75 joins MC2 Audio’s E45, E25 and E15 amplifiers. The E45 offers 2250W/channel into 4 ohms (with peaks of 4500W/channel into 2 ohms; 1200W/channel into 8 ohms); the E25 is rated at 1250W/channel into 4 ohms; and the E15 is rated at 750W/channel into 4 ohms.
E Series units are housed in a 2U chassis. All MC2 Audio products carry a full 5-year warranty.
