You know how it is, you think you have everything needed to make some music and then you realize there’s one vital component missing. Well Yamaha can’t provide you with any talent, but they are able to provide pretty much everything else you’ll need to start recording and mixing audio on your computer (you do have one of those right?). The MW10 and MW12 mixers are 10 and 12 channel analog mixers respectively, but they also come equipped with a built in USB audio interface enabling 2-channel IO so you can record the mixer stereo out and monitor the returns back from the computer to the analog world. Aimed at the starter setup – these can record at 44.1 or 48kHz at 16 bit using the USB 1 interface. We’re told they are class compliant, meaning they’ll hook right up to your Mac OS X or Windows XP based ‘pooter without any additional fuss. You also get a fully operational version of Cubase LE for either platform so you can start making those tunes right away. Cubase LE gives you 48 audio and 64 MIDI tracks, 40 VST instrument and effects so you’ll have plenty to be getting on with. MW10
