Musik Messe isnt just about the booths and endless rounds of canope's and free coffe, oh no. This year also hosted the 6th annual Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA) Ceremony, where the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio community gathered to recognize outstanding contributions in the industry. Korg was doubly honored for its achievements in product development. The OASYS Open Architecture Synthesis Studio received this year?s award for "Best Keyboard Workstation," winning against competition from the Roland Fantom X 2.0 and the Yamaha Motif ES. While the Korg Legacy Collection was dubbed "Best Software Instrument." beating NI's Absynth 3 and Arturia's 2600V. The OASYS award marks Korg's fifth win out of six nominations in the keyboard workstation category in MIPA's six-year history, that's an impressive record - I wonder if they sponsor the bar ;-). More than 300 international representatives of music/audio-related manufacturers and distributors were in attendance. In preparation for the awards, 58 magazines from around the world compiled a list of nominees in over 40 categories, from which the final winners were chosen.
