The Cantor story from the MusikMesse this year was a big hit, the author of this real-time vocal synthesizer gave us a great demo, showing off the capabilities of Cantor 1.0 well. Now CANTOR 1.5 has been released and is a major upgrade incorporating a completely revised vocal synthesis engine. The new engine makes it now much easier to produce intelligible vocal lines. This was achieved with an improved filter model and a new kind of rule based phoneme sequencer which adapts the phoneme transitions according to the context inside a word. CANTOR's main purpose is to provide you with creative vocal parts for live and studio usage. All is possible - lively leadsounds, background choirs, vocoder like effects, ... Due to the consequent design as a real synthesizer without using samples the main usage of CANTOR is not primarily the replacement of "human" singers but more the creation of new virtual character voices whose base sound can be influenced by the user in an extremely flexible manner.
