These are active (bi-amp; internal crossover) 5" bass-reflex (front-port) 2-way nearfield studio monitor speakers with 1" soft-dome tweeters.

Good Points The good points of these speakers are the quality sound reproduction and the uniquely low price for this level of quality. Fostex have a vast history of driver and enclosure design, which they put to full use with these speakers. They are also robust and well-finished. Bad Points The bad points of these speakers are the ported design (severe port chuffing at low frequencies and high volume, unless paired with the subwoofer) and the limited power. Even in a small room, they have to be turned up close to maximum in order to immerse the listener in sound. Fortunately, the amps are of high quality, so sound quality does not suffer even at maximum volume. |
