This is a kermit green 2U sized piece of outboard with a massive VU meter smack in the middle. It's a true stereo compressor - you can't use it as two separate mono units as both channels use a common sidechain, in fact the input signal is converted into sum and difference mode to combat image shifts during compression before conversion back to left and right

A rotary knob marked 'compression' alters the threshold, while a five-way 'slope' switch selects the ratio of the compression. These interract with the input gain knob to set up the amount of compression needed. There are separate knobs for attack and release with a wide range of settings available, and additional controls include output gain and the 'dark mode' secret weapon.

Good Points
Sounds well cool. The SC2.2 is an optical compressor using a photo electric cell rather than a VCA and in operation is very natural and smooth. Very versatile, this is capable of a wide range of compression from subtleties to real heavy pumping stuff with the attack and release controls doing their stuff.Worked well on individual instruments and stereo mixes. Dark mode does something to the release curve, it's a subtle thing but it does give the sound a different flavour and makes the compression more noticeable. Probably not what the makers intended, but put two entirely different mono sounds through it and one can be used to mess up the others envelope and create weird new sounds.
Bad Points
Depends on whether you like green…
