Stereo valve (tube) compressor with 15 presets. 3U half-rack size unit with knobs for input gain, output gain, gain make-up, threshold and ratio. The knee is switchable between soft and hard and both attack and release can be switched to a slow or fast setting. Input, output and make-up gain are always active, the other controls only come into play if the unit is set to Manual rather than one of the presets.

Good Points The valves do impart some of their characteristics to the sound which could be described as warmer, fatter or thicker so it is definitely useful for beefing up a thin sound. There are useful presets for mix compression, vocals, keyboards, bass, guitars and various drums so anyone new to compression can instantly dial in a sound without having to tweak any threshold, envelope or ratio controls. For the more adventurous, Manual mode allows a finer degree of control although continuously variable knobs for attack and release would be preferable to the set times provided. |
