Set phasers to stun   29-Mar-13

We are doing a bitesize review of a Boss pedal every day for a month, and today it's the turn of the Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter. But did this phaser stun us? You'll have to watch the video and see.

We're looking at 30 pedals this month, and then on the final day of March, we'll be doing a round up of our favourites. The idea being that you can quickly watch our bitesize reviews and compare one Boss pedal to another, and quickly see if you like the sound.

The Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter represents years of Boss phase technology perfected into a pedal packed with functionality.

Rich's verdict - "I must admit to being one of those shamefully unimaginative guys who prefers to have a number of modulation effects on one pedal, such as flange, phase and chorus, all in one pedal. I have a few vintage modulation pedals, just as collectors items, but it's pedals like the PH-3 that win me over and make me want to add more modulation to my rig.

"Used lightly on clean tones, it just brings your signal to life and adds some beautiful movement and textures. There are a number of different phase settings, with a number of different phase notch options. The lower numbered settings work better on clean tones, but as you add gain, use the higher numbered phase notch options and it can sound rich and aggressive."

RRP - £115
